Vela shows the aircraft and ships around you — and across the world — gliding in smooth, real-time motion. The map works fully with no account or sign-in. This page is here if you need a hand.

Common questions
- I don’t see any aircraft or ships. Vela shows real, live traffic, so what appears depends on where you are and what’s transmitting nearby right now. Aircraft appear worldwide; ships appear in coastal areas with AIS coverage. Try panning to a busy airport or port.
- Why does a craft have no photo or route? Vela only ever shows known facts. When a photo, operator, or route hasn’t been broadcast or isn’t in public data, that field is simply left out rather than guessed.
- Vela Plus & billing. Vela Plus is an auto-renewable subscription billed through your Apple Account. To view, change, or cancel it, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or use Restore Purchases in Vela if a purchase isn’t showing. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Privacy. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. Vela is private by default: no ads, no tracking, and your exact GPS coordinate never leaves your device.
Data sources
Aircraft positions and flight paths come from licensed ADS-B data providers and from adsb.lol contributors, whose data is available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0; Vela keeps each aircraft’s recent reports for a limited time to draw trails, and the full adsb.lol database is published by adsb.lol. Ship positions come from aisstream.io and Fintraffic Digitraffic (CC BY 4.0).
